By default, the scientists include all breeds of dogs in a group called Canis lupus familiaris, a subspecies of Canis lupus, to which also belong to other sub-species like the gray wolf. Dogs became domesticated chestnuts have created their own homogeneous group who are considered as sub-species of Canis lupus, such as dingoes and dogs singer.

There are many breeds of dogs. About three-quarters of those recognized are very old and from natural selection on morphology, combined with artificial selection on the behavior (examples: Siberian Husky, Berger de Brie). The last quarter came from a recent artificial selection (eg German Shepherd, Golden Retriever), which are often the most popular car modeled at the convenience of man. Some breeds of dogs were created from crossbreeding in the past. In our day, so a dog can be called pure breed by law in countries governed by the Canine Federation internationnale (including those from North America and Europe), it must be recorded in books of the origins of his country of birth. Without such recording, a dog, would seem to belong to a race, may have crosses in his pedigree and should therefore be considered as such by law. [3] [4]
