Rabbit

Rabbit

Rabbits are lagomorphs are mammals of the Leporidae family in general of the genera Oryctolagus and Sylvilagus. Characterized by the tail and short ears and long legs. These small mammals are found easily in many regions of the planet. The term is used to refer to the species from eight genera, including the rabbit-in-Amami (Pentalagus), the American rabbits (Sylvilagus), and pygmy rabbit (Brachylagus). Some authors [1] include the gender Caprolagus in the group of rabbits (rabbit-Asian), but most classify it as belonging to the hare. The most common species is Oryctolagus cuniculus, and rabbit-European.

Classic episode of disruption was the introduction of eco-European rabbit in Australia. Brought to this country in the nineteenth century, that there is increased in mammalian unsuspected levels to see if free of natural predators and soon to become pests in the field. All efforts to control the situation were useless until they inoculated the animals to infectious myxomatosis, a disease endemic among birds but the Brazilian has been fatal in 99% of cases.

The rabbits are mammals of the order of lagomorphs and the family of hares. It has long ears and legs - although smaller than those of hares true - have a short tail and not out as a corridor. The two genera of rabbits Oryctolagus are the most representative, of which the common European rabbit, Sylvilagus and with many North American species and tapiti or rabbit-to-kill Brazil. Most of its species usually gallery open ground, where several generations come in nests. Your body is always smaller than that of hares.
